Licensing and Regulatory Status
Five Ridge Financial Ltd. is licensed by the Alberta Insurance Council to sell life insurance, accident and sickness insurance, and segregated funds in the Province of Alberta. We operate as an Associate Managing General Agency (MGA), contracting with licensed insurance carriers to distribute their products through licensed professionals. All professionals associated with Five Ridge Financial hold appropriate provincial licenses as required by the Alberta Insurance Council.
We are not registered as securities dealers, investment advisors, or portfolio managers under any Canadian securities legislation. Nothing on this website should be construed as a recommendation to buy, sell, or hold securities. Segregated funds are insurance products, not securities, and are issued by licensed insurance companies. For advice regarding securities, mutual funds, or exchange-traded funds, please consult a registrant with the appropriate provincial securities commission.
Services described on this website are available to residents of Alberta. Availability in other provinces or territories depends on applicable licensing requirements and may be limited.
Scope of Services
References to "financial planning" or "planning" on this website describe the insurance-based needs analysis and product recommendation process conducted within the scope of a provincial life insurance license. This includes insurance needs analysis, risk assessment, product suitability reviews, and coordination with other licensed professionals. It does not refer to comprehensive financial planning as defined by FP Canada or any provincial securities regulator. For comprehensive financial planning services, consult a Certified Financial Planner (CFP) or Qualified Associate Financial Planner (QAFP) credential holder.
Insurance Products
Descriptions of insurance products on this website are general summaries of product categories and features. They are not complete descriptions of any specific policy. Actual product terms, conditions, exclusions, limitations, and pricing are governed by the policy contract issued by the insurance carrier. Product availability, features, and pricing vary by carrier, jurisdiction, and individual circumstances including age, health status, and coverage amount. All insurance applications are subject to underwriting approval by the issuing carrier. Five Ridge Financial does not guarantee approval of any application.
Segregated Funds
Segregated funds are individual variable insurance contracts (IVICs) issued by licensed insurance companies. Maturity and death benefit guarantees are provided by the issuing insurance company, not by Five Ridge Financial Ltd. These guarantees are subject to conditions, limitations, and management expense ratios as described in the applicable fund facts and information folder. Guarantees typically apply only at maturity (usually 10 years from the date of each deposit) or on death of the annuitant, and may be reduced by withdrawals. Past performance of any segregated fund is not indicative of future results. The value of a segregated fund can go down as well as up, and you may receive less than you invested if you redeem before the guarantee date.
Segregated fund advertising and disclosure on this website is guided by the Canadian Life and Health Insurance Association (CLHIA) Guideline G2 for Individual Variable Insurance Contracts. For more information about segregated fund regulation in Canada, visit clhia.ca.
Calculators and Planning Tools
The financial calculators and planning tools on this website use simplified mathematical models and the inputs you provide to generate estimates. These estimates do not account for all factors that may affect your actual financial situation, including but not limited to: changes in tax legislation or CRA administrative practices, inflation variability, actual investment returns versus assumed rates, individual health underwriting outcomes, changes to government benefit programs (CPP, OAS, GIS), provincial variations in probate fees or tax credits, and personal circumstances that may change over time. Calculator results are for illustrative purposes only. They are not projections, guarantees, or recommendations. Do not use calculator results as the sole basis for any financial decision.
Case Studies and Scenarios
Any case studies, planning scenarios, or examples presented on this website are anonymized composites created for illustrative purposes only. They do not represent specific clients, actual outcomes, or guaranteed results. The names, circumstances, and figures used are fictional or generalized. Past planning approaches are not indicative of future results. Every financial situation is unique, and the strategies described may not be appropriate for all individuals. A proper suitability assessment is required before implementing any financial strategy.
Tax Information
Tax-related information on this website is based on current Canadian federal and provincial tax legislation and Canada Revenue Agency (CRA) administrative practices as of the date of publication. Tax laws, rates, brackets, and administrative interpretations are subject to change without notice. The tax implications of any financial strategy depend on your individual circumstances, including your province of residence, marginal tax rate, and the specific structure of your financial affairs. Nothing on this website constitutes tax advice. Always consult with a qualified tax professional, Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA), or tax lawyer before implementing any strategy that has tax consequences.
No Guarantees
While we make reasonable efforts to provide accurate and current information, we make no guarantees regarding the outcomes of any financial strategy, insurance application, or investment decision. Insurance applications are subject to underwriting approval by the issuing carrier. Investment and segregated fund returns are not guaranteed and will fluctuate. The value of any investment can go down as well as up. Guarantees associated with segregated funds and insurance products are provided by the issuing insurance company and are subject to the terms and conditions of the applicable contract.
